Abi's Bioinformatics Toolkit

Welcome

to Abi's Favorite Bioinformatics Tools

This toolkit is a compilation of some of the bioinformatics tools used for protein profiling. All the tools featured here were chosen because they are accessible for free and without registration on the World Wide Web. In addition to the toolkit, there is also a tutorial of the featured tools using Hen Egg White Lysozyme.

Most of the tools reviewed here are hosted by the ExPASy Molecular Biology Server <www.expasy.org> maintained by the Swiss Bioinformatics Institute. Many mirror sites are also available. This site is highly recommended for Protein Bioinformatics.

First-time users are encouraged to start with the Tutorial.

The toolkit is arranged according the type of information available to the user.

Protein attributes - refers to the physical and chemical properties of a protein.

Bioinformatics Tools - Begin with the tools evaluated and reviewed by this tutorial/toolkit.

Advanced! - a simple, straighforward shortcut for users familiar with the tools and the toolkit..

About Lysozyme - Some basic information about lysozyme, which was used as a sample protein for the tutorial.

References - Short list of books, journal articles, and links which were simply indispensable.
